Ortofon

On October 9, 1918, Danish engineers Axel Petersen and Arnold Poulsen founded the Electrical Phono Film Company in Copenhagen, pioneering high-quality recording technology and one of the world's first synchronized sound film systems. In 1947, the company was renamed Ortofon — from the Greek orto fon, meaning correct sound. In 1948, Ortofon developed the world's first moving coil (MC) cartridge, establishing itself as a leader in phono cartridge technology with over 30 different models developed and manufactured. A micro-mechanical powerhouse, Ortofon offers everything from entry-level MM cartridges to flagship MC cartridges, each embodying over a century of sound reproduction expertise — the most trusted phono cartridge brand among vinyl enthusiasts worldwide.
